Dr. Nikhil Sangith,PhD.
Director
Dr. Nikhil Sangith, has an extensive background in biochemistry, molecular biology and structural biology, Nikhil has been understanding the biochemical and structural basis of proteins in different diseases including infectious diseases and cancer. Nikhil obtained his Ph.D. in Life Sciences from Advanced Centre for Treatment Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), Tata Memorial Centre, Navi Mumbai. His work mainly focused on the structural basis of proteasome function and its potential role in signalling and cancer.
Later, Nikhil worked as a scientist in the Centre for Biotechnology, Anna University, Chennai under the DBT-BUILDER programme where he had studied bacterial lipid modification and structure-function correlation of important enzymes involved in infectious diseases. He was also a part of a team that discovered a diagnostic target for Salmonella and developed a cost-effective diagnostic method for Salmonella detection. Nikhil has been a recipient of many fellowships (CSIR-NET, DBT-JRF, Global Health Grant Fellow, USA and TIFR Postdoctoral fellow) and has published articles in international journals. Nikhil is currently in charge of research activities in Xact Diagnotek.
